Smile Restorers with ONE CHILD, ONE SOAP – Community Awareness Program against COVID-19
SMILE RESTORERS AND THE CHILDREN IN OUR
COMMUNITIES JOIN THE WORLD TO SAY NO TO COVID -19.
On April 5, 2020 Smile Restorers continue to demonstrate that they are extraordinary individuals who relentlessly engage in serving different communities to advance healthier communities. In the midst of COVID – 19 pandemics, Smile Restorers in Kenya showed love to Kibera communities and engaged in advancing health and wellness awareness about coronavirus preventive measures. Under the project; One Soap, One Child, the Smile Restorers team practically showed children and teenagers in ways to prevent the coronavirus.
Many children, teenagers including some adults were taught the importance of Social Distancing, Wearing Facial Mask, and Hand Washing. This event impacted over 100 kids and teens including adults.
The brotherhood culture of local communities, rural areas, informal settlements, in most African communities, where children mingle freely with one another would expose families with elderly individuals COVID-19. These elderly become more vul
nerable to this virus if proper emphasis and demonstration to prevent the spread of coronavirus are not taught to the children, teenagers, and adults. Both visual, and practical demonstration is critical to advance awareness on ways to prevent the spread.
During this program, every child went home with a bottle of handwashing liquid soap. The main objective of ONE SOAP, ONE CHILD program is not only to give the children soap but to help them understand how important it is to practice
the COVID-19 PREVENTIVE MEASURES.
SMILE RESTORERS DON’T ONLY GIVE GIFTS BUT GIVE EXPERIENCES THAT WOULD LAST A LIFETIME TO OUR CHILDREN AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS!
